Gabriella Blogs: King Charles Cavalier Love

Anyone who knows me would know how much I love the dog breed King Charles Cavalier. They are the sweetest and friendliest dog anyone could ever want.

Toby is my first ever dog and he is so special as we have trained him from being a small puppy, he is 13 years old which is really good for this type of breed. Unfortuntley he has developed deafness in his older age as well as partially blind especially at night time which is a shame.

Earlier this year one of my friends sent me a website link on Facebook about a two year old King Charles Cavalier who was advertised needing a new home, my friend had sent me the link because she thought it reminded her of Toby. Well that was it really......I showed my mum the photographs and well we fell in love with Oscar.

It all happened quite fast but once receiving the photographs my mum decided that she would go and visit Oscar and just get some more information about him. That was when my mum decided that we needed a test run with Toby meeting Oscar because it would depend if Toby got along with such a young dog.

This was back in late January this year when it snowed really bad. My family and myself decided to take both dogs on a walk to see how well they got on. At first Oscar was really boisterous and wanted to play, which Toby didn't want to. We took Oscar back home to see how he would get on in our house and he soon settled in except for him being rude with Toby.

My family and myself made the best decision of adopting Oscar. We were worried about how Toby would react with such a younger dog after being the only dog in the house for 13 years. I think getting a younger dog has given Toby a new lease of life. Don't get me wrong Oscar pesters Toby wanting to play with him but in a weird sense it seems like Oscar knows that Toby does not want to play.
